I suppose we should try to think of some way of suggesting that Alesis might

How about this:
1) You have many users selling their A6's second hand because they're
just too awkward to use ... and the growing second hand market makes it
harder to sell new machines. OS updates would keep current owners
hopeful and they would likely wait before getting rid of their A6's to
see if the updates made things better.
2) Not too many people are going to shell out $2500 once they hear that
future OS updates are a write-off and that the current implementation is
incomplete ... but if new users visit the Alesis website and find
consistent updates, they'll be much more likely to make such a big purchase.
