Although for most of the factory presets, the
ribbon controller is set to filter modulation,
the ribbon controller needs to be activated
*at the modulation DESTINATION(s)* in order for
it to respond.  And, of course, the modulation
amount needs to be some value other than zero.

For instance, press any one of the six filter
mod destination buttons, select ribbon controller
as modulation source using the leftmost soft
knob, then enable the modulation destination
(the green light next to the button should go
on), set the modulation destination to "cutoff"
(as opposed to "resonance"), and set the 
modulation amount to your preferred taste.
(Of course, if the filter is already set to
a high frequency, and you set the ribbon to
a positive modulation amount, you won't hear
anything, in which case try setting it to a
negative modulation amount).

IIRC, the lights only indicate ribbon HOLD, and
should light up if you push the hold button
while touching the ribbon.

P.S. Has anyone tried testing the re-trigger
function in MOD-T/G envelope mode?  Still not
working for me ...
