(replace a normal non-latching one with a latching one) if 
you want to use this trick? 

Maybe the Andro allows one to set the sustain pedal mode to 
latching/nonlatching? Can't remember such feature, but that 
would allow for a normal pedal to be used in latching mode.

Gotta check the manual.
