about a week or more ago i notified alesis of a message i dropped on the
ion - andromeda group and asked them for an opinion on it.
no reaction ( yet?)
regarding the discussion so far i also place it on this side.
having read the opinions so far i disagree with the opinion that we have
to remain very understandable with the alesis and emagic companies. being
understandable in general is a good quality , but it would cost both
companies only a very small effort to help people who are willing to do the
job by themself. i think it's a wrong policy aimed at short term while on
long term it has a very bad effect for the future productsells.
(message:)
no update of the os has appeared anymore as alesis is not interested
anymore.
probably they just sell out the a6 en focus there energy on their new and
still to come synth's.
in this respect it's extra sad that alesis also doesn't give free the
tools for third party developers or the user platform to work on the os
themself.
in my 24 years of synth using i only had one similair experience before:
with the roland w-30: a (then) perfect machine with the ability to be
debugged and upgraded easily due to the floppy/system disk. they even used
this fact as an advertisment feature!
fact is they never made a real update (stuck on version 1.10) ,nor did
they ever decided to give the source free.
for me that was the reason never to buy a new roland synth anymore, and i
never did
