[A6] andromeda alternatives?

well thanks for the sympathy you macho sods. I have sciatica and a couple
of weeks ago I could hardly carry my nord micro to the gig, let alone the
A6. Plus I travel abroad a lot and it just weighs too much with my other
gear - too many excess baggage charges. I can't currently get the A6 down
the bloody stairs! I wish they did a rack model (It'll never happen will
it?)
thanks for the tips though - I have never seen or heard the Sunsyn or Omega
so I must check them out - Interesting some of you mention the Virus as I've
been wondering about it - I was actually intending to get one when I went
mad and bought the A6. Due to the way they are sold in the UK I still
haven't heard a Virus in the flesh but I'm worried about its digi filters
(and the filters on all VAs: I find the nord, waldorf and novation filters
which I have heard ultimately pretty tiring) Do the Virus filters really cut
it? I mean do they feel alive, liquid? Or will I have to take my Mutator
filter with me (that seems to cure 99% of all digital ills!)
Having found the perfect sounding studio synth it is a real PITA to be
looking for another for live work but I don't think I have a choice - as a
windsynth the A6 feels very alive - the sounds feel very tangible and
physically real - if I could find that quality in a racksynth, even a
monosynth, I'd be a happy chappie
