mmm... to be honest i think this could also be the result of 
dwindling stocks and/or rising wholesale prices. i'm guessing that 
maybe nobody is making these old-fashioned and outdated memcards 
anymore. certainly not in large numbers which could also lead to a 
price increase. 

IMHO this is a good time to get one (or more) if you haven't already 
as this particular type of memcard will probably be "phased out" in 
the near future. just a hunch
