[A6] A6 filter wierdness

Firstly, I admit I'm no synth genuis. I've had my A6 for a couple of months
and I've gotta say I don't think much of the manual and do not find the
interface exactly intuitive - its a nice enough read, it just doesn't tell
you how the synth works.

I know i didn't make a mistake buying it becauae I love the sound of this
machine and its possibilities seem truly endless but .....

In particular I'm missing a couple of things.

1. some simple standard patches, without any prest modulations, to use as
building blocks

2. some way of getting an overview of what the hell is modulating what
without having to check ten or twenty different pages

3. most importantly there is strangeness with the filters that seems
different from ANY other synth I've used. On some patches they work as
expected but on others they hardly affect the sound at all - as if the bulk
of the sound was bypasing them and just a small amount was being filtered.
No knob or button on the front panel seems to make any difference to this -
the offset control seems to help with some patches but with many its almost
as if the filters aren't working at all (I know they are because on some
patches they work fine)

On my MS20 I can silence any signal using the filters - on the A6 I can't.
Is there some obscure control I have missed which determines how the filter
knobs operate?

any pointers to help me with this would be seriously appreciated - what
would you check in this situation??

Richard
