this was the problem i had with similar symptoms : if you have your a6 set to
external midi sync but have it try to play a local arp or sequence (almost every
preset patch has one by default) you will get that "once-in-awhile" sounding
patch, so try checking to see if the arpeggio or sequencer light is on, and if
so, turn them off.
remember when you're building a mix to go through all the patches you're using
and turn off the preset arps to get a clean slate for working on external
clock.
